Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Agreement

By creating a Taxero account or using any Taxero service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply to all users, including individual sellers, business owners, and resellers.

Taxero, LLC ("Taxero", "we", "us") is a Texas limited liability company. For questions, contact [email protected].

2. The service

Taxero provides sales tax compliance software, including nexus monitoring, state registration automation, return preparation, and filing services. We act as your authorized representative when filing returns on your behalf, using a limited Power of Attorney you grant during onboarding.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your sales data. Taxero prepares and files returns based on the information you provide. We are not responsible for errors arising from inaccurate or incomplete data you supply.

3. Account responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.
  • You may not share your account with third parties or use Taxero on behalf of others without an appropriate reseller agreement.

4. Pricing and billing

Current pricing:

  • Self-Serve: $0/month. $19.99 per return filed.
  • Managed: $49.99/month. $16.99 per return filed.
  • Forgotten Filer / Zero Return: $19.99 per return.

Subscription fees are billed monthly in advance. Filing fees are billed when a return is submitted. All fees are non-refundable after a return has been filed with a state agency. We reserve the right to update pricing with 30 days' notice.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your Managed subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for mid-period cancellations. Filed returns are not reversible.

6. Limitations of liability

Taxero is a technology platform, not a licensed accounting firm or law firm. Our service does not constitute legal or tax advice. We recommend consulting a qualified tax professional for complex multi-state situations or audit defense.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Taxero's total liability for any claim arising under these terms is limited to the fees you paid to Taxero in the 12 months preceding the claim. Taxero is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use Taxero to file fraudulent returns, misrepresent sales data, or violate any applicable law. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations. Taxero cooperates fully with law enforcement investigations involving tax fraud.

8. Intellectual property

All software, content, and technology powering Taxero is owned by Taxero, LLC. You receive a limited, non-exclusive license to use the service for your own compliance needs. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or resell Taxero without a separate agreement.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration under JAMS rules, except either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms with 30 days' notice via email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be highlighted in the notification.
