States don't care which platform your sales came from. A Texas sale is a Texas sale, whether it happened on Whatnot, TikTok Shop, or eBay. When you add them up, you might be crossing thresholds without knowing it.
Taxero automatically combines all your platform sales for each state, so you never miss a threshold because you were tracking platforms separately.

What multi-platform sellers actually owe
Most marketplace platforms — Whatnot, TikTok Shop, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Amazon — are marketplace facilitators. That means the platform collects and remits sales tax to the state on your behalf for qualifying transactions. On paper, this sounds like your problem is solved. In practice, it creates a common and costly misconception.
Marketplace facilitator status means the platform remits the tax. It does not mean your nexus obligation disappears. States determine nexus based on your total gross sales into that state across all channels — not just the sales where someone else remitted the tax. If you sold $80,000 on Whatnot and $40,000 on TikTok Shop into Texas, you have crossed Texas's $100,000 threshold and must register in Texas, even though both platforms remitted on your behalf.
The second issue is coverage gaps. Marketplace facilitator laws have exceptions. Sales made outside a platform's checkout, wholesale transactions, certain product categories, and sales through your own Shopify storefront are typically not covered. Shopify is explicitly not a marketplace facilitator for your own-brand storefront — every Shopify sale is your direct responsibility to register, collect, and remit.
Multi-platform sellers compound both problems. Each new platform adds gross sales that count toward nexus thresholds in every state. A seller who is well under threshold on any single platform can be over threshold in a dozen states when the platforms are added together. No individual platform tells you that — because no individual platform sees your full picture.
Taxero aggregates your sales across every platform you use, calculates your true nexus exposure state by state, handles registration when you cross a threshold, and files returns on time. One subscription covers all your platforms and all your entities.
